The Global Category Manager – Transportation, is responsible for the development and execution of strategic initiatives within Indirect Procurement Transportation globally.
Transportation contains all categories in Transportation such as Road, Rail, Ocean Freight and Air. This is a cross-functional role that will interact with various other functions across the business especially Supply Chain as internal stakeholders globally.
This role leads the procurement of Transport in creating and driving key initiatives to help in bringing a future procurement vision to life.
Job Functions/Responsibilities:
-Define, drive and execute global category strategies for the different Transportation categories to achieve optimal sourcing results considering the specifics of the global regions.
-Manage costs (should-cost models, cost reductions, value creation, etc.) and drive savings.
-Lead contractual discussions with suppliers within portfolio of managed categories.
-Align the strategies and targets with the respective Regional Leads in the organization.
-Annual presentation of the Transportation strategies.
-Drive state-of-the-art global sourcing initiatives and assure the quality of the regional initiatives.
-Establishes and maintains proactive communication with internal stakeholders .
-Develops supplier relationships with strategic suppliers to provide world-class service and -roducts in coordination across multiple businesses.
-Develops risk management strategies.
-Ensures compliance with all company policies and all regulatory requirements.
-Supports the vision and mission of the company and its procurement department.
Required Skills/Abilities
-Minimum of 5 years of experience in sourcing/procurement of Transportation
-With 25% travel expected to international sites.
-Bachelor’s degree with concentration in procurement, supply chain, engineering, business administration and/or related fields
-MBA preferred
-Proven ability in utilizing and leveraging e-sourcing/procurement systems.
-Experience in spend analysis, contract development and execution.
-Ability to develop best practice sourcing methodology and category strategies.
-Excellent social & communication skills – able to clearly articulate position in a complex organization.
-Ability to work with key stakeholders in multicultural environment and at various levels.
-English skills at business level (written and spoken) is a must, any additional language is an advantage.
